£1 million upgrade touted for popular cycling path, including CCTV cameras to tackle "wild west" bikejackings that saw cyclists ditch route and feel "safer between buses and cars"

All very well having CCTV, but who will be monitoring it? Bodies cost money or will they hope to do something with AI.

Some cases of bikejackings have worried people https://road.cc/content/news/violent-bikejackings-have-turned-railway-path-wild-west-311229
with cyclists suggesting that they have been forced to avoid the route for the “foreseeable future”, amidst concerns that an “epidemic of joyriding” has turned the beloved cycling path into the “wild west”, with one even claiming that they feel “safer between buses and cars”.
Wish I felt confident that the police will do much. Usual claims of higher priorities.
