The ban goes back to 6th June 2008....from Wales Online
End of the line for boozers

AFTER a heavy night the last train home is an option for many revellers who’ve had one too many drinks.

But this is about to end as Arriva Trains Wales (ATW) launches an alcohol ban on the Rhymney Valley line tomorrow (Friday), meaning no-one can take booze onto platforms or trains, or even board a train if they are drunk.

Continues https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/local-news/end-line-boozers-2168486

Also applies on the lines north of Pontypridd to Treherbert, Aberdare, and Merthyr Tydfil, just in case you were tempted!
