And finally, 70807 is also a train:

That's all, folks: we have now identified everything in grahame's list.

At least when the new class 99 freight locomotives are introduced next year they shouldn't be confused with the last "99's", they were considerably heavier and they floated!
I don't believe the ships physically had the number on them it was just an allocation they were given in the TOPS system.

70017 hauls a heavily laden VSTP 6Z41

Could it be this locomotive?

From Wikipedia

70017   Arrow   built at Crewe   June 1951 - October 1966   Withdrawn as a result of damage incurred on 30 July 1966 in a collision with a goods train near Carlisle.

Thanks for that update, JayMac.  Somewhat surprising - it seemed to be a fairly modern and roadworthy vehicle, in the image I posted.

03 plate, so 21 years old.

Hmmm.

58040 is an interesting one.  It could be that train:

... or it could be this one:

Either way, it's not a bus.

Living at the top end of Nore Road, Portishead, would I love to see a tram train from the old station, come up Nore Road, turn right, along the coast road, go through a tunnel at Walton on Gordano, (running across the golf course!), into East Clevedon, along Old Street, Old Church, to Salthouse Fields and on into Weston along the route of the WC&P.
I think Santa may have other ideas.

As someone who can never get anywhere near solving Grahame's "extract from timetables" quizes, I'l  have a go at this one instead, and suggest that in addition to the ones identified by Chris and Johnneyw above, the busses are 33801, 39138, 39418 and 66726.

As to the other 66725, let's hope one day that it (or a sister loco) gets there hauling an engineering train on the final stages of reinstatement works!

43048, however, is definitely a train: https://www.125group.org.uk/our-fleet/43048-hst-power-car/

"32292 seen near Lawrence Weston".  My first thought was that it must be a bus but it depends what is meant by "near".  The Henbury loop line goes some way north of Lawrence Weston, closer to Hallen really.  I know the area as I used to live half a minute's walk from the nearby Blaise Castle Estate for twenty something years.

From these brief snippets, can you tell me which were trains and which were buses?
...
66725 seen in Portishead (Nore Road)
...

The funny thing is, 66725 is a train -

- but there's no way that was seen on Nore Road in Portishead.
