While they are of more historic interest now, those links from Dr Randles'
website do indeed still offer us some great pictures of the railways.

Not a name which may be to familiar to many - but I expect his website
uksteam.info certainly is.
Sad to report he died last month after ill health prevented him updating the site from the middle of last year. However what remains is a valuable resource of steam trains on the mainline going back quarter of a century. Hopefully it will continue to be available.
