Trainline - Strong Growth

From City AM

Trainline has hiked its forecasts after a strong start to the second half of the year as demand for digital rail tickets continues to grow, sending shares up 10.6 per cent.

The British train ticket seller said it now expects total sales growth between 12 and 14 per cent, compared to the eight to 12 per cent it previously predicted.

It also revised revenue guidance upwards to between 11 and 13 per cent, compared to a range of seven to 11 per cent growth before.

“Trainline has delivered strong growth in H1 FY2025 and is increasingly benefiting from operating leverage as it scales,” the company told markets on Monday.

Presumably points to even fewer people using ticket offices.

My only concern about the trainline is the fact they charge an admin charge from any refunds for delays encountered.

No they don't. Delay Repay compensation is paid by the train operating company responsible for the delay. With no fees.

Trainline like most ticket sellers will charge a fee if a refund is requested for an unused (not Advance Purchase) ticket where no cancellations or delays are involved. They have a sliding scale based on purchase price.  From £0-£5. Most TOCs charge a flat fee of £5 so if your ticket is less than the admin fee you get nowt back if you decide not to travel.

Don't you believe it! More people visiting ticket offices trying to correct errors they've made by using Trainline
