In England and Wales, approximately 57% of the population are within a 30-minute walk of a railway station. However, this access varies considerably within and between local areas.

hmmm - what do I know - thought it was a lot les than that.
30min walk - about 1.5 miles then.

From our previous house, it was a brisk ten minute walk down to the station at Nailsea & Backwell. From our current house, it's a more relaxed (could even be done across fields, in good weather) up to 25 minutes.
