"more bike parking is 'not ideal' and could cause 'bigger increase in crime'"

I'm not always impressed by claims of "victim blaming" when someone states the obvious. Perhaps the Comments from the Neighbourhood Policing Team, particularly the last paragraph, could have been phrased slightly differently, but the first one states a fact and the second sensibly suggests action that would benefit cyclists.

He calls for bike parking to be put where there is CCTV, which sounds sensible. However, when I had a bike locked to a cycle stand in London badly vandalised (presumably in attempt to steal it) and contacted the police, I was told that they would only look at CCTV if I could pin the time that the crime took place down to 15 minutes. As I had been away in a meeting for 2 hours I couldn't do that, but did offer to come in and spend 2 hours at my expense looking at the CCTV myself, but they wouldn't allow me to do that.

Another example of 'victim blaming'?  If you can't prove when it happened, it didn't happen.

I am not sure I am entirely with the "victim blaming" phrase, which seems to be used more often.

There is the distinct feeling that TVP don't treat the cycling community as well as they could. Not helped in Berkshire by local authorities that worship at the altar of the great god motor car. TVP also has an issue in dealing with video evidence submissions, as mentioned elsewhere by the PCC.

Interestingly Roads Policing is one of the areas they share with Hampshire Constabulary, who seem far more engaged.

More from TVP https://road.cc/content/news/police-force-slammed-stoking-culture-war-310867. They don't do themselves any favours on the public relations side.
Mind you the Windsor and Maidenhead Neighbourhood Policing Team have "previous".
